Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries have an ambition to give every child in Yorkshire access to a bike. In order to do that, we need your help!
The Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries Enterprise Fund was developed to fund new Bike Libraries, as well as to help develop existing Bike Libraries and similar social enterprises. The Enterprise Fund offers financial and marketing assistance to not-for-profit agencies that want to run community projects (new or existing) via a network of Bike Libraries and community engagement activities. If you're interested in becoming a Bike Library, click HERE to find out how to apply for funding, and other ways to be involved in the scheme.
If you would like to get involved but are not able to set up a Bike Library, you could consider becoming a Donation Station instead. Donation Stations are essentially allocated drop-off points where members of the public can donate their old or unused bikes. Anyone can become a Donation Station, you just need:
• Space to securely store donated bikes
• A regular time-slot for people to drop off their bikes (this will be advertised on the website)
We will provide you with branding (a banner, postcards etc.) and you will also be publicised through the website bikelibraries.co.uk
Once you have reached capacity, you can contact the Bike Library team who will arrange collection of the bikes for distribution across the network.
For many it is a lifetime activity. There will always be new skills, new experiences and new feelings of satisfaction. It will help develop you as a person and provide an opportunity to make friends, try new activities and increase your confidence in the knowledge that you are helping others to reach their sporting potential. Volunteering often leads to other things. The experiences, contacts, knowledge, skill and confidence gained from volunteering are the qualities that potential employers look for.
The sustainability of Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries is reliant on volunteers. If you would like to register your interest in volunteering at a Bike Library, please complete this short form.
