West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Bike Library, Halifax

Each week in the lead up to the Tour De Yorkshire, we’re shining the spotlight on some of the fantastic Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries who are located on this year’s race route. This week, we're pleased to announce news of a launch along Stage 3, for the Active Calderdale Bike Library in Halifax…

We're delighted to reveal that the Active Calderdale/West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Bike Library official launch will take place on Tuesday 18th April at Halifax Fire Station!

Calderdale Council and West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service are working in collaboration to deliver a brand new Yorkshire Bank Bike Library.

They will have bicycle donation stations in place at the local fire stations and schools, and a bike library which will loan bikes to Calderdale residents, in particular to children and young people who do not have access to their own bikes. The project will encourage more people to cycle and be more active, helping to achieve the vision for Calderdale to be the Most Active Borough in the North of England by 2021.

The Mayor will be in attendance to officially open the bike library and present the first bike loan to a student from Ravenscliffe School.

As the Tour approaches, it's great to be launching new ones in time for the big race - look out for more information from us on the day via our @BikeLibraries Twitter account.
